MUMM celebrated for the fourth time, the beauty of the world with great explorer Mike Horn as part of the Mumm Explorer Experience. From the 8th to the 11th of September, the brand invited a privileged few including the two lucky winners of its international online photography competition, for an exceptional two-day and one-night nomadic experience in the world’s largest desert, the Gobi.</p>
<p>The fourth <a href="http://www.mummexplorerexperience.com" target="_self">Mumm Explorer Experience</a> is part of a series of exceptional dinners that have been organised by both G.H.MUMM and adventurer Mike Horn since 2008. They take place in the most exclusive places on the planet. Following the previous successful expeditions, one on an iceberg drifting in the middle of Sermilik Fjord in Greenland, one at Charcot Bay in Antarctica and another on a pristine sandbank on the Great Barrier Reef in the Pacific Ocean, the latest expedition took place in the Gobi Desert in the Asian continent.</p>
<p>After a thrilling helicopter ride overlooking the untouched infinity of the Gobi Desert, G.H. MUMM guests met up with explorer Mike Horn in the largest and most spectacular ‘Singing Dunes’. Commenting on the desert, Mike Horn said: “The Mumm Explorer Experience in the Gobi desert is unique and can never be repeated at the same location, because of the strong North West wind, the spot where we will have the wonderful lunch will no longer be there tomorrow”.</p>

The camel train trekked under the shadow of the mountains of sand, across the grass land and into the saffron coloured dunes. Leaving their camel behind, the new ‘explorers’ entered the dunes on foot and as they reached the highest dune, were welcomed by the site of a unique yourte kitchen in the colours of G.H. MUMM in the valley below. After several hours of trekking, guests were finally greeted by legendary three-star Michelin French Chef Alain Passard**, who composed an endless procession of audacious and unique G.H. MUMM champagne paired dishes inspired by only local Mongolia ingredients.</p>
<p>Commenting on his menu, <a href="http://www.alain-passard.com/" target="_self">Alain Passard</a> said: “As a tribute to all the explorers and to the stylish audacity of Georges Hermann Mumm, I have put aside my daily culinary references and let myself be guided by the madness of this concept and composed a live and spontaneous menu, inspired by the wildness and aridness of the Gobi Desert”.</p>
<p>It is only appropriate for G.H. MUMM to partner with<a href="http://www.mikehorn.com/"> Mike Horn</a> and organise such an adventure. The House of champagne has been at the heart of great human adventures for almost two centuries, from the commandant Charcot’s first steps in the Antarctic in 1904, to today’s world-renowned adventurers such as Ellen MacArthur, Alain Hubert or Steve Fosset. All these heroes of recent times celebrated coincidentally their audacity and success with a bottle of MUMM Cordon Rouge.</p>

MUMM has been organising a series of unexpected gastronomic dinners to celebrate the beauty of the world in the most beautiful place with South African explorer Mike Horn. The M<a href="http://www.mummexplorerexperience.com">UMM Explorer Experience</a> was born: an invitation to a once in the lifetime gastronomic experience orchestrated by a Michelin star Chef, as part of a true and authentic expedition alongside a real adventurer.</p>
<p>Previous MUMM Explorer Experiences took place in remarkable places; the first expedition took place in Greenland in July 2008, on an iceberg drifting in the middle of Sermilik Fjord, featuring a gourmet meal orchestrated by two-star Michelin Chef Sylvestre Wahid. The second journey took place in Antarctica to the very same spot where <a title="Commender charcot" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Baptiste_Charcot" target="_blank">Commander Charcot</a> spent the winter in 1904, alongside three-star Michelin Gérard Boyer. And the third MUMM Explorer Experience took place in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef where <a title="Mauro colagreco" href="http://www.maurocolagreco.com" target="_blank">Mauro Colagreco</a> Chef prepared a gastronomic lunch on a pristine sandbank.</p>
<p>Following the success of the previous MUMM EXPLORER EXPERIENCES, G.H. MUMM launched on 7 June <a title="Mumm the game" href="http://www.mumm-the-game.com" target="_blank">Mumm the game</a> an online photography competition, giving a unique opportunity for consumers to be part of its next exceptional expedition in September. Closing the entries after a successful high level of responses, <a title="G.H. Mumm Facebook" href="http://www.facebook.com/champagne.mumm">G.H. MUMM </a>announced yesterday on Facebook the two lucky winners &#8211; Ujin Lee from Australia and Angie Hogget from the UK won the ultimate prize.</p>

Both Ujin Lee and Angie Hogget’s submissions stood out, winning the unique prize.</p>
<p>The two lucky winners will attend the next MUMM Explorer Experience that will take place in the Gobi desert from 8 to 11 September 2010 with the unique presence of <a href="http://www.mikehorn.com">Mike Horn</a> and Michelin-star French Chef <a title="Alain Passard" href="http://www.alain-passard.com" target="_self">Alain Passard</a>. Patrick Jouin is unveiling his first creation, a champagne ice-bucket dubbed “Georges” in tribute to the House’s founder, Georges Hermann Mumm.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px;">An interior architect, designer and creator, Patrick Jouin, whose experience in the world of luxury (Van Cleef&amp;Arpels boutique) and the world of cuisine (restaurant Jules Verne) is recognised internationally, enjoys exploring techniques and materials . He blends constraints,</span><span style="font-size: 15px;">aesthetics and technology to reveal the excellence of every space and every luxury object.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 15px;">Patrick Jouin studied design in Paris and soon joined the Philippe Starck agency.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: 15px;">In 1998, he founded his own agency in which he started projects on object design, interior architecture and scenography. He created objects and furniture but also a prototype vehicle for Renault.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: 15px;">From 1999 onwards, he designed several restaurants around the world, including the Plaza Athénée and Le Mix (NY, Las Vegas), and was entrusted with the decoration of the Jules Verne on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 19px;"><span style="font-size: 15px;">G.H. Mumm wanted to create a practical service item that conveyed the brand’s personality and prestige. Jouin suggested a range of service </span><span style="font-size: 15px;">accessories fusing audacity and elegance and showcasing the brand icon, the famous red </span><span style="font-size: 15px;">sash or “Cordon Rouge”. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 19px;"><span style="font-size: 15px;">As Patrick Jouin has a tradition of giving a name to all his creations, it </span><span style="font-size: 14px;">seemed an obvious choice to dedicate this first creation to &#8220;Georges&#8221;, <span style="font-size: 15px;">a </span></span><span style="font-size: 14px;">tribute to the founding father.</span></span></p>

<p>The first journey took them to Greenland and featured a dinner orchestrated by Michelin two-star chef Sylvestre Wahid on an iceberg drifting in the middle of Sermilik Fjord. The second Mumm Explorer Experience led them to Antarctica, to the very same spot where Commander Charcot spent the winter in 1904 (Charcot Bay) with a dinner by former Michelin three-star chef Gérard Boyer. This time, G.H Mumm chose the Great Barrier Reef, and asked Mauro Colagreco (voted best chef in 2009 by France&#8217;s influential Gault Millau guide) to prepare a gastronomic lunch right in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on a pristine sandbank on the Great Barrier Reef.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Mauro Colagreco, the Chef at the Mirazur (Menton, France), trained under Bernard Loiseau, Alain Passard and Alain Ducasse. Like his peers who prepared the first two meals, he used local produce for his amazing menu – which featured prawns with caviar lemon, seared ormers with sesame sauce and tomato preserve, seared baramundi on papaya and green mango with citrus fruit, and, as the finishing touch, tapioca with lait coc, corosole and longuent</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The idea behind these out-of-the-ordinary meals in exceptional spots is to trigger an exchange. In this case, it is an exchange between a chef who has built an outstanding reputation on account of his inventive cuisine, a magical spot and the wealth of flavours its local produce can unleash. Magnifying these resources in their natural setting, in a nutshell, was the challenge that Mauro Colagreco had to rise to.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Preparing a gourmet meal on an iceberg or sandbank can sound awkward, but it is really only a technical challenge until the chef finds his bearings again. Here, however, he is alone with his stove and delivering what musicians would call an “unplugged” live performance. There are no special effects: just unspoilt landscapes – and the looming threat of climate change.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The main new feature in this third Mumm Explorer Experience, however, was that G.H Mumm announced ten lucky winners would have the exclusive opportunity to participate in the fourth <a href="http://www.mummexplorerexperience.com/">Mumm Explorer experience</a>, slated for July 2010 in the Gobi desert – provided they won the contest that this Maison de Champagne will be running this September.</p>
